About fun4ponies

fun4ponies.com was launched on 12th February 2007 as a place where children aged 8 – 14 can learn about real ponies and pony behaviour with fun, inter-active lessons, games and online forum.

fun4ponies aims to help children to:
learn about real ponies and pony behaviour
think about life from a pony’s point of view
understand why ponies behave the way they do
understand about a pony’s instinct and instinctive behaviour
think like a pony
act in a way that a pony will understand when they are with real ponies
behave like the herd leader whether they are with a herd of ponies or just one pony
ride a pony safely and sensitively when they are in the saddle
have fun and stay safe when they are working with real ponies on the ground
have fun and stay safe when they are riding a real pony.
become intelligent, caring, natural, kind, sensitive horsemen and horsewomen!

The idea for the site came in 2006 from the development of a new horsemanship workbook for children who love ponies. The children who were involved in testing the pony experiments and activities about ponies in the new workbook were receiving these pony lessons online. One of the youngest received an instalment which asked for a drawing of a herd of ponies. The expectation was that downloads would be printed off and drawings of ponies would be done on paper. However, this 7 year old drew her pony picture on her computer using a drawing package and wanted to send it back via email! The idea for a pony site was born!

Safer Kids and Ponies

One of the best ways for children to stay safe around ponies is to have enough information about ponies and pony behaviour. The aim of the site is to provide information about ponies and enable children to learn enough about themselves and their pony to stay safe and have fun! The more children can understand about the way a pony thinks and behaves the safer they are likely to be.

Children can take part in fun online pony quizzes and games about ponies. There are fun pony activities to print off and complete at home or take away to practice with other children or a pony!

The online pony lessons are also a fun way to help with literacy, numeracy, science and technology and relate to the UK Key Stages 1 and 2. Geography and Social Sciences come from the world-wide nature of the site.

Online pony lessons have video clips of ponies, fab photos of ponies and audio too so that those children who are unable to read can still listen to lessons.
