Location: England | I like chestnuts best. They are so shiny in the summer and when they have a flaxen mane and tail I think they look stunning!

| I think you might be right there Bambibabe! Did you know that there are lots of different sorts of spotty patterns? Appaloosa Coat Patterns Appaloosa coat patterns vary from a single colour (called a solid colour) through to really spotty. I've seen lots of new-born appaloosa foals with a solid coat which later develops flecks as the foal gets older. These flecks often grow into larger, egg-shaped spots. Blanket is when there is white over the hips without lots of dark spots in the white. Frost is white specks on a dark background. Leopard spot is where the coat has lots of white over the loins and hips with dark spots. Marble is when the coat is mottled all over the body (like little dots of white and a colour all over the body). Snowflake is when there is spotting all over the body but there is usually more over the hips. Once the coat has developed its spot pattern it usually stays that way and doesn't fade. Does anyone have any pics of these different spot patterns that we could have a look at? you can click here to add them to the gallery! |
